We aim to predominantly use single sculls during the course, for the less experienced or if the weather conditions dictate, we will use crew boats - either doubles or quads. By the end of the week, most, if not all, course attendees will be sculling in single sculls. As with all things rowing related, the weather and river conditions may dictate our choice of boats, with your safety being paramount.
Participants for each course will be split into smaller groups depending on their ability.
Half-day Itinerary Example
Day 1
10am - 12:30pm
The week starts with a safety briefing, followed by an introduction to your coach and allotted boat for the week. This is followed by a water session of approximately 1.5 hours (no break). After a de-brief with your coach, you will be finished for the day.
This first day is largely to make sure that you are comfortable in the boat and group that you have been allocated. If you are much faster or slower than other people in your group, you will be moved into a more appropriate group the following day.
Day 2
10am - 12:30pm
You will have a shorter briefing from your coach and a chance for questions and to go over any points from the previous day. This is followed by a water session of approximately 1.5 hours (no break). After a de-brief with your coach, you will be finished for the day.
Depending on the weather for the week, your coach may go through video analysis of your performance and you will be able to informally discuss specific concerns.
Day 3
10am - 12:30pm
This will operate very similarly to Day 2.
Day 4
10am - 12:30pm
You will have a short briefing from your coach and a chance for questions.
Depending on weather conditions, we aim to run a time-trial race format.
Day 5
10am - 12:30pm
You will have a short briefing from your coach and a chance for questions.
Depending on weather conditions, we aim to run a side-by-side race format.
